As we step into 2025, we are mindful of the challenges that lie ahead, especially as the national landscape shifts under a new presidential administration. These changes bring uncertainty, particularly for diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and for the LGBTQ+ community in workplaces across the country.
Despite these headwinds, Pride in Our Workplace remains unwavering in our mission to advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion and belonging in the workplace. We understand the unique pressures and barriers faced by our community, and we are committed to equipping organizations and individuals with the tools and support needed to navigate these times with resilience and strength.
The year ahead offers an opportunity for us to double down on our efforts—to empower LGBTQ+ professionals, strengthen ERGs, and partner with companies that are dedicated to fostering environments where everyone can thrive authentically. Together, we can continue to make progress, even in challenging circumstances.
Thank you for standing with us and for your commitment to advancing workplace inclusion. Let’s move forward with hope, determination, and the shared belief that a more inclusive future is not only possible, but necessary.

Celebrating Leadership Transitions at PIOW
As we kick off the new year, we’re excited to announce a transition to new leadership! Please join us in welcoming Bryan Vermes as our new President and Chair, and Kiera Penpeci as our new Vice President and Vice-Chair. Both Bryan and Kiera are long-time board members who bring incredible passion, expertise, and vision to their roles. We are thrilled about the energy and innovation they will bring as they help guide PIOW into its next chapter.
This leadership team is committed to advancing LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion and creating impactful opportunities for our community. Here’s to an exciting year ahead under their guidance!
We'd also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Cheryl Katon, our outgoing President and Chair, for her exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to our mission. Cheryl’s guidance has been instrumental in shaping PIOW into the thriving organization it is today. We are happy to have her remain on our Advisory Board and wish her all the best in her new endeavors down in Texas! In case you missed it in our last newsletter, please see Cheryl's blog on her onboarding experience in her new nonprofit leadership role.
